Who We Are

When the first Sigma Chi’s were established in Rolla as the Sigma Chi Mu petitioning colony, the Sigma Chi Mu House Corporation was created with the following intent:

“The purpose for which Sigma Chi Mu House Corporation is created is to maintain and conduct a society, the general object of which shall be to cultivate fraternal relations among the Sigma Chi alumni and the active members of the Sigma Chi Mu Chapter; to advise and cooperate with the active chapter in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the chapter; to establish and maintain a journal for the purpose of disseminating useful information among the alumni; to buy, own, hold, lease, sell and convey such real or personal property as may be necessary or desirable in carrying out the full purpose of the Association; and to utilize all other legal powers permitted General Not for Profit Corporations.”

The Theta Eta House Corporation of today continues that tradition as a group of Sigma Chi alumni volunteers dedicated to providing consistency of ownership/management of the Chapter House property. This may include the acquisition, construction, renovation and maintenance of a chapter house that is an appropriate residence for our brothers, and worthy of the reputation of Sigma Chi. Day to day maintenance and repair of ordinary wear and tear is the responsibility of our undergraduate brothers. Members of the house corporation promote living the ideals and values of our fraternity. We also promote learning and academic achievement by encouraging our alumni to support our annual chapter fund appeal that provides scholarship awards to deserving undergraduate brothers.
